PABA (Para-Aminobenzoic Acid) has been widely used as a UV filter in sunscreen formulations, however PABA has been found to cause damaging effects to skin and is no longer commonly used. Products that are PABA Free either use other UV protective ingredients or use safer and more effective derivatives of PABA.
