Warts are a form of viral infection caused by contagious contact with the skin, clothes, towels or another person suffering with the condition.
Common warts, ‘Verruca vulgaris’, are small rough tumours or solid blisters on the hands or knees that can be recognised by their rough cauliflower appearance on the surface of the skin.
The flat wart (‘Verruca plana’) is a smooth flat flesh-coloured wart that occurs in large quantities usually on the face, neck, hands, wrist and knees.
Plantar warts, ‘Verruca pedis’, commonly known as verrucas, occur on the base of the foot. A plantar wart or verruca can be easily recognised by its location (base of the foot), its tenderness and the interruption of the footprint. They may or may not be painful. Verrucas often occur after walking barefoot around communal showers or swimming pools or by sharing shoes.
Warts can last from a few months to years and often reoccur but are not serious as they can be treated and avoided fairly easily.
SkinStore has a range of effective treatments for plantar and common warts and concealing camouflaging products for flat warts. As some of these include high concentrations of Salicylic Acid they are not suitable for use on the face (or mucous membranes). Please read the product guidelines carefully before using any wart removal product.
